Why Get Tested?

ADHD can significantly affect various aspects of life, including academic performance, work, home functioning, and personal relationships. Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective management and treatment. Testing can help:

  • Clarify Symptoms: Determine if ADHD is the cause of difficulties in focus, organization, or impulse control.
  • Identify or Distinguish between Co-occurring Symptoms: Discover if other conditions like anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or learning disabilities are present.
  • Personalized Treatment Recommendations: Receive a wide range strategies and treatment referrals that address your specific needs and challenges (e.g., behavioral and environmental changes, medications, coaching, therapy).

What is included in our ADHD testing?

Our comprehensive ADHD testing follows best practices from research and the field of psychology. We assess the following:

  • Cognitive abilities
  • Executive functioning abilities
  • Attention, concentration, and impulsivity skills
  • Learning and memory skills

We also gather additional information from close family and friends about other symptoms that they may notice happening in your day-to-day life.

What is our testing process?

Our ADHD testing process is comprehensive and involves several key steps:

  1. Intake Session: Meet with one of our experienced clinicians to discuss your concerns, medical history, and any symptoms you’ve observed. The goal of the intake is to listen to your experiences and to develop a deeper understanding about the challenges you’ve experienced. We will dive deep into your experiences throughout your lifetime (e.g., childhood, young adulthood, adulthood) and explore how some of these challenges may occur in various environments (e.g., home, school, work, sport, parenting, relationships). The intake session will also serve to determine if ADHD testing is the appropriate route for you at this time.
  2. Comprehensive Assessment: We stay up-to-date with current psychological research to inform us about best practices and utilize the most appropriate tools to seek clarity around challenges that you may experience.
  3. In-Depth Feedback and Personalized Recommendations: We will provide a detailed report outlining the results of your assessment and go through an in-depth exploration of each test you completed and the meaning of your scores. We take pride in developing a feedback session that translates assessment scores into understandable language and you get to bring home multiple concrete recommendations to immediately assist with executive functioning challenges!

Our comprehensive ADHD testing provides the clarity you need to move forward with confidence! Reach out to hello@affinitypsych.com if you are curious to know more about our testing services and/or are interested in getting an intake scheduled.
