Anna Trout, MA, LMFT

Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from Northcentral University (now National University) in 2019. I work with people of all ages, from age 3 to 100+! (Basically however old someone gets until they pass on from this life.) I am an #actuallyautistic provider, and utilize an affirming lens. I have worked with neurodivergent folks of all ages for over seven years. I enjoy providing individual, couple’s and family therapy. In addition to “traditional” couple’s and family therapy, I also offer separation counseling, therapy for polyamorous groups, parent coaching, and court-ordered therapy. Everyone is welcome in my office. I celebrate diversity in my personal and professional life. I have worked extensively with LGBTQ+ clients.

I am a proud mama. I have two small kids (1 and 3!). So if I ever yawn in therapy, I can guarantee it is not about you. I have two cats, although I am hoping to get a cat soon. I am a total nerd. I enjoy videogames, especially the kiddo ones, such as Mario games and Pokemon. I love all things Marvel and Harry Potter and will talk your ear off about them if you allow me to do so. I look forward to working with you!

How I Work

I am a collaborative therapist. I will work with you to determine what we are working on and if we are meeting your goals. I am a direct and kind therapist. I come from an affirming lens, and I apply that to all populations I work with. I want you to feel supported and valued as the wonderful human you are! My ideal client is someone who has a sense of humor and is ready to begin the healing process.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I am so, so quirky. I will often be fidgeting in my chair, or with the various fidgets in my room. I may make movie references or a reference to a TV show or pop culture. I am honest and direct, but also kind. I will tell you what I am thinking, but I won’t be an asshole about it. I think creatively, and may do things differently than other therapists you’ve had in the past. Sometimes I utilize art, board games, and other activities to help process emotions. Verbal processing is great, and I recognize that humans may not always want to talk about certain things. That’s okay-we will go at your own pace.
