Hey there! I’m Ashley!
I earned my BS in Psychology and my MS in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. I’m also trained in Motivational Interviewing and the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC 0-5).
I primarily have experience working with children, teens, and young adults who have current or past experiences with trauma, depression, anxiety, familial conflicts, and anger/aggression. I also have strengths in working with youth and adults with autism and ADHD. Additionally, I work with families and parents to build stronger connections within the family and process through any challenges the unit is experiencing.
How I Work
Therapy with me is a space to dump all the things going on in your part of the world. Then, we’ll work together to take inventory of what was dumped, re-arrange or glue some items back together, and file them in a way that makes life feel less cluttered and overwhelming. Being able to bring your full, authentic self to therapy-whether humor, sarcasm, vulnerabilities, or interests-is how to get the most out of each session.
I’m an upbeat person who provides a space that feels more like a conversation than an interrogation. While I will ask about your dogs, cats, and favorite shows, we’ll also discuss the hard stuff in a way that feels like a natural part of the session.
I would consider myself a laid-back person, which results in sessions feeling free-flowing and directed by YOU and what you need out of our time together. While I help provide some structure and guidance, you are in the driver’s seat. This means your feedback to any ideas or questions I throw out is welcomed and encouraged! I want to hear about what works and, more importantly, what doesn’t.
What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?
In my office there will always be a basket of fidgets for you and me! I tend to be expressive, laugh a lot, and use humor. My strength is building comfort quickly in the therapeutic process and making the tough things feel natural to talk about. I am warm and validating but direct where appropriate.
I am a late-diagnosed ADHDer married to a late-diagnosed ADHDer, a mother to two young kids (16 months apart!), and a stepparent to a child with autism. I’m a Hufflepuff Swifty obsessed with reality TV/pop culture and pets (2 dogs and 3 cats)! I have probably watched the newest show, documentary, or movie on (any streaming site, honestly) or listened to that song by (almost any artist in most genres, especially country and pop).
