I hope you’ve had your coffee today because I’m a ball of sunshine, and very excited to meet you! Congratulations on taking the first step in healing! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who works primarily with adult populations. You’ll find that I’m high-spirited and approach care through an empathetic, compassionate, and neurodivergent affirming lens. With a plethora of experience working with those who struggle or have struggled with substance abuse (including substance abuse within the family) and Co-occurring disorders, combined with my personal therapeutic journey, my goal is that you’ll feel the same compassion and kindness I’ve experienced. I know how scary and uncomfortable it can feel to sit across from someone in that opposite chair – but I look forward to meeting you and helping you navigate your healing journey.

How I Work

Imagine we are both in a car. You’re in the driver’s seat, on a journey along a road that is sometimes challenging, experiencing obstacles, and it’s unknown what lies ahead. Now imagine that I am in the passenger seat with you on your journey providing some directional suggestions, ideas on how to maneuver around or through those obstacles, and helping you build a safety plan so that you are ready for whatever lies ahead. Together, we will navigate the journey, even if an exit or two is missed along the way – we’ll get there. I will let you set the scene, pace, and topics throughout the journey during our sessions. I want you to feel safe to do so in ways that are right for you. Maybe that’s attending our session in your pajamas; maybe that’s first comparing our shared “hip” hairstyles or super cool tattoos; maybe you want to shake it out, stim it out, or dance about during the session; maybe you’d like to break the ice first with my “Rainbow Cards of Affirmation” or the poetry books in my office – No matter what you’re style is, I’ll bring my authentic self into each-and-every session, and create the space for you to do the same!

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I enjoy working with the uniquities of the world – quirky oddballs who march to the beat of their own drum, and connect well with others who do the same. Being an oddball my entire life, I understand what living in the shadows feels like. Because of this, I have an intrinsic sense and understanding for when to use humor and empathy, or when to get the tissues ready and sit with you through your pain. Maybe you’re feeling out of place in the world. Maybe something happened recently and you don’t know which way is up anymore. I can help because I understand where you’re at. Approaching each client with kindness, respect, and compassion, my style is motivational and uplifting – much like those tv legends that give the great, passionate speech about how to move forward. I would love the opportunity to work with you, oddball to oddball, and assist you with those depth-of-life changes, sexuality/gender discovery, family of origin struggles, friendship hurdles, and romance (or lack thereof) concerns.
