Brooke Riches, MA, LPCC

Welcome! My name is Brooke Riches, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I obtained my master’s in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary’s University and a bachelor’s in Liberal arts (Psychology and Spanish) from UW-River Falls. Social connection is an integral part of who we are and I hope to help you explore what paths you’d like to take in life.

How I Work

I like to tell my clients when we first meet, we’re going to lay out all the puzzle pieces, aspects and things that make you, you! and throughout the therapeutic process, we will put the puzzle together. If you can’t tell, I enjoy using metaphors and mental images to give clients something to work with. I’ve found when approaching therapy and life, with curiosity, you might be surprised by what you find. I like to partner with clients to help them achieve their goals. I do this by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space. With each successive session, we will continue to build the skills to help you work through those difficult moments we each experience in life. Which brings me to a helpful quote I use with clients, “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” John Kabat-Zinn.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I’ve always been told I’m a great listener, I utilize that skill to hear the depth and nuance of each client’s story. Sometimes that requires me to add some humor. Sometimes that requires some deductive skills. Other times it requires me to sit with you in that “uncomfortability” and not always have the “answer”. I like to meet my clients, how they are, and where they are at.
