Hi there! I am so glad you’re here. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me. I am Emily, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and my Master’s in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I am passionate about working with college-aged students and adolescents from all generations and walks of life. Whether you’re feeling stuck, stressed, or just need someone to listen, I’m all about creating a space where you can show up exactly as you are-quirks, worries, and all.
How I Work
Picture this: a cozy chat with your favorite wise friend, but with a few extra tools to help you sort through life’s messier moments. My job is to help you understand your brain’s quirks and untangle those tricky thoughts that keep you up at night (yes, even the ones about whether you really locked the door).
I like to keep things relaxed and collaborative. We’ll work together as a team, and no problem is too big or too weird to tackle. I blend a little Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a dash of mindfulness, and a big a** cup of self-compassion into our sessions. I might swear at times. I might swear zero times. Want to bring a snack? Cool. I will probably have one, too, and will always have some kind of a sweet treat in my office to share. Some days we might dig into the deep stuff, and other days we’ll brainstorm practical, real-world solutions-like how to survive awkward social situations or handle stress like a pro.
Expect some humor (because laughing is basically a form of therapy, right?) and a whole lot of empathy. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you-because there’s nothing wrong with you in the first place. It’s about helping you get to know yourself better, break through whatever’s holding you back, and maybe even learn to give yourself a break once in a while.
If you’re ready to dive in, I’ll be right here with a cup of coffee (or tea, if that’s more your vibe) and plenty of space for you to just be you.
What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?
I am a humorous yet passionate therapist who strives to create a space for her clients to better understand themselves so they can finally freaking thrive. I use humor and creativity in my practice because I know getting through hard sh*t won’t work without a joke/meme or four. I bring a sense of quirkiness and comfort into the therapy room to build authentic connections with clients of all ages.
Whether it’s processing current issues, hearing the latest gossip, learning new coping skills, or doing the deep work of healing past wounds, I will roll up my sleeves with you and hop in alongside you, providing all the comfort and care your heart desires. I will challenge you and teach you practical tools you can use to get unstuck and get thriving.
When I’m not untangling thoughts and feelings, you can find me perusing the latest beauty and skincare trends, drinking endless matcha, catching up on trashy reality TV, making recipes from my favorite cookbook author (Alex Snodgrass), online shopping, and going on walks with my friends and family.
