Hannah Williams, MS, LMFT

Hi! My name is Hannah, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my master’s degree from Capella University with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Wisconsin.

With over ten years of experience as a therapist, I’ve primarily worked in a community mental health setting. This has given me experience in individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, crisis intervention, and in-home services. I also supervise individuals pursuing licensure in marriage and family therapy.

I work with individuals, families, and couples experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relational conflicts, attention problems, and adjustments to change.

How I Work

To promote change, I believe it’s important to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and their family members. I strive to provide a safe place to explore challenges without judgment, utilizing an integrative approach that draws from attachment theory, systems theory, narrative therapy, and solutions-focused therapy. I am a navigator/ explorer in your journey toward healing and understanding your life, but you are in charge. I will only direct you as you express the need for it.

Our sessions will start with a check-in. What has gone well and what can be better? Did your homework get completed? What was the result? After that, we’ll transition to processing and exploring what needs improvement and discuss what coping methods can aid in a better outcome for you. Then we’ll end by giving you homework to complete outside of our session.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I’m positive-focused, and I see my clients’ strengths even when they cannot see them. I emphasize perspective-taking, assertive communication, and problem-solving to build resilience and further cultivate your personal strengths. You will leave the office feeling energized and focused to take on life.
