Kristy Hommerding

Kristy Hommerding, MA, LPCC

Welcome! I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s degree in Counseling & Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University. I have over 10 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health field, and specialize in working with adults (including senior/elderly clients) struggling with self-esteem, relationship with food, perfectionism, body-image, relationship issues, life transitions, healthy/sustainable weight loss, stress management, eating disorders, anxiety, and communication/assertiveness. My style of counseling connects well with those, including men, who are new-to-therapy and have anxiety, fear, and/or apprehension with trying traditional therapy.

How I Work

I want to get to know you – the unique you. By doing so, I will support you to overcome challenges, find peace & resolution, and celebrate the growth that comes with navigating through such challenges. You can do hard things. You can do this work, and experience a renewed sense of happiness. Everyone needs support from time-to-time, and I’m ready to walk that journey with you. Seeking support is a sign of strength, courage, and self-care.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

Clients have said they value their work with me because they felt safe and comfortable right from the start. I am not a Therapist who will chase you down, pressure you to attend sessions, or shame you in any way. Instead, I support my clients as they navigate their journey.
