Hello! My name is Maddie, and I’m a therapist here at Affinity Psychological Services. I’m a woman of color, daughter of immigrants, and first generation American who loves dogs. (I have a Belgian malinois and a Siberian husky!)

I went to the University of Minnesota Duluth for my Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology and then the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for my Master in Social Work. I’m trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and take an interest in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy.

I work with adolescents and adults. My focus is on depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, ADHD, relationship issues, and those experiencing systemic injustices.

How I Work

I get to know your story and presenting problems. Then we’ll discuss some treatment goals. I also prioritize building rapport with you in the first session.

My style is open-ended. I like to process emotions and situations, looking at the details and different perspectives. I’m more of a listener than a talker. I work with you, and I see therapy as a partnership. I help guide you to the solution.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I like to relate to my clients. I try to lessen the power imbalance between me and the client as ethically as possible. I don’t shy away from clients experiencing difficult emotions in session or when setting boundaries. In fact, I encourage it!
