Magan Callaway, MSW, LICSW

Welcome! I’m Magan (she/her/hers) and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I received my Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and my Masters in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As you might have guessed, I’m a former Wisconsinite, though I’m grateful to have called Minnesota my home for the last 15 years. I love to spend any free time that I have with my family, chosen family and doing anything that involves the outdoors.

How I Work

I’m an empathetic problem-solver. Just what does that mean exactly? It means I am all about two things – connecting with you and helping you get where you want to go. It’s the connection and relationship we build that informs how we figure out your next steps, together.

For me, this means creating a safe, warm, affirming, and judgment-free space where you’re able to be your authentic self to work through the areas that lead you to feeling stuck. I’ve been told I’m wholeheartedly present in sessions, and my clients feel I’m centered in the moment with them. It’s my priority that you feel safe, heard, seen, and empowered. Only then can we uncover and cultivate your true resiliency. And I do believe you are resilient!

I am a strength-based therapist, which means your self-determination and values will always drive our work together.  Even when various systems around you get in the way of living the life you were meant to, I still 100% believe that we can find a way forward. Oftentimes my job is to help you uncover that awareness, offer alternative perspectives and/or gently challenge you so you can learn to believe in it for yourself.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I’m a lesbian cisgender queer woman and understand the courage and daily work it takes to live fully as our authentic selves. I have a down-to-earth style that is both warm and attentive. I don’t claim to have all the answers. What I can offer is to put in the work, stay informed, seek out information and not to shy away from thinking outside the box to find something that resonates for you. If you’re ready to take the next step or have questions, I’m here and eager to connect with you.
