Shatera Thorson, MA

Hi! My name is Shatera Thorson and I am currently working toward licensure to become a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel University. I specialize in treating clients who have experienced trauma and am so honored by those who are willing to trust me with their stories.

How I Work

There are often parts of our stories that are hard to understand, are filled with grief and pain, or just plain difficult to be honest and open about. I will help you integrate and understand the different parts of your journey so that you can live a life free of shame, regret, and hopelessness. There is hope for you! I try to create a safe and open environment for my clients to share their stories. I am trained in EMDR and rely on Family Systems Therapy to help you connect and understand who you are in relation to your family and network of relationships.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

I like to get deep fast, but not in a way that is overly burdensome or serious. We can lighten up your journey to health even while we dig deeply into your story. I sprinkle in a lot of humor to help us through the process. Clients find me easy to talk to, fun to be around, and empathetic in a way that evokes honesty and vulnerability.
