Star Williams, MSW, LICSW

Hello and Welcome! My name is Star (she/her), and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I received my Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of St. Thomas. I specialize in helping adults struggling with all forms of trauma (event specific, historical, and relational/attachment), those recovering from mentally/emotionally abusive relational dynamics, and those experiencing chronic pain from a mind-body connection and healing through somatic (mind-body) approaches. Additionally, I work with clients to navigate their relationship issues through an attachment theory lens – providing greater insight into their emotional bonds.

How I Work

I am passionate about creating a safe, welcoming, and non judgemental space for my clients focusing on connection and relationship building. I think it is also important to note that I like to smile and laugh when the time is right – humor can be a great tool for healing!

Using an organic and holistic approach to learning about you and your healing journey, I am able to get to know you and the challenges you are facing. Together we will explore how your nervous system responds and communicates, discovering what stories it is wanting to release. We do this by incorporating body awareness and movement into our work together. Combining mental/emotional healing with physiology can lead to lasting transformation.

What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, or SEP, I have specialized training to help you resolve trauma, chronic pain, and chronic stress which impact your physical, emotional, and psychological functioning. Because unresolved trauma can contribute to many complex symptoms and diseases, I am able to utilize proven techniques to help you navigate challenges. This is ideal for clients who wish to go beyond traditional talk therapy.

Another important note: I have immense experience working with professionals in the mental health industry – namely other clinical practitioners. By creating a safe space, free of professional duties and expectations, I provide an opportunity for clinical professionals to do their own necessary work.
