Welcome! I’m Terri.
I have my BA in Sociology and Economic Inequality from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. I’ve also completed training in executive functioning mastery, EMDR, trauma treatment, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I love working with clients who recognize that they’re engaging in behaviors that hinder their relationships or come from their family of origin. I also work with clients with low-need autism/ Asperger’s, ADHD, and anxiety, as well as kids/teens/young adults navigating relationships and lifecycle adjustments, including transitioning to independent living/finding their way in the big, big world!
I strive to be deeply grounded and integrated with my senses to support my ability to self-regulate and communicate. And I love equipping people with trauma histories and/or neurodivergence with skills for understanding and regulating their nervous systems, as well. There is far more to calming than breathing alone.
How I Work
All of us have biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual components to our mental health. My approaches in therapy match this philosophy: I want people to feel integrated with themselves and the world around them. You can expect a “whole self” approach to therapy using neuroscience and well-researched treatments to address the mind-body connection.
I believe in client-focused therapy, highlighting each person’s strengths and resources as well as their social network and community resources. I help people get oriented to bodily and cognitive tools to support their goals. You can expect to have tools and strategies to implement after leaving your first therapy session.
What Sets Me Apart As a Therapist?
You’ll find plenty of things to fidget and interact with in my office. I incorporate sensory experiences in my sessions to help people feel comfortable and work at their own pace for verbal expression or processing.
I am not offended by swearing. And you’ll be called out if you minimize your own experience by highlighting how people are suffering everywhere. People are suffering everywhere, and in here, your experience is the one we’re focusing on.
